I never really got the habit of writing regularly as an adult. The last time period I consistently and proactively posted through (rather than just reactively liking and retweeting something) was probably 12 years ago on my personal diary.ru blog, which was before I got my first real engineering job — as soon as that happened, suddenly 90% of the words I typed were now messages to coworkers or JIRA tickets, and now I rarely get the impulse (or the attention) to write something outside of that.

This site is an attempt (not the first, likely not the last) to get back into the habit, this time in English (which encapsulates that 90% I mentioned above). I am still thinking mostly in my native language, which is Russian, but the idea of producing any long form content in it is probably even scarier now that I’ve effectively left that written language space aside from some remaining group chats and Twitter; the last and only article I published 5 years ago was translated back into Russian from the original presentation slides, and you can definitely tell.

One caveat: it’s very unlikely that my posts are going to be about what I do at work (frontend, accessibility, LLM orchestration). I’m spending enough hours a week on this stuff as it is to talk about solutions, and I certainly don’t want to participate in the general discourse. I’m considering a number of topics that are still adjacent to programming (for example, I started learning OpenGL recently, and there’s plenty of stuff to talk about there), but no promises at this point in time.
